FLPI Workshop:"Implementation of Technology 4.0 in the Supply Chain for Animal Products Processing Industry

FLPI in collaboration with Fapet IPB and the National Meat Processor Association-Indonesia (NAMPA Indonesia) conducted a workshop on Thursday, May 2, 2019. The workshop was held at the Research and Development Center for Animal Husbandry, Bogor City. This workshop activity aims to increase the knowledge of livestock processing industry players related to the use of 4.0 technology in improving the efficiency of the industrial supply chain. In addition, this workshop as a venue to open a dialogue for sharing related to the opportunities and challenges faced in implementing technology 4.0 in the livestock products processing industry.

The workshop activity held on May 2, 2019 was opened by Prof. Dr. Irma Isnafia Arief, S. Pt, M.Sc. as the head of the Department of Animal Husbandry Production and Technology, Faculty of Animal Science IPB. "It has become a necessity for livestock processing industries to implement 4.0 due to current technological developments," explained Irma.

The first session of the workshop was delivered by Ir. Iken Retnowulan, MT as Head of Agro Industry Research and Development Center, Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. The material presented was related to policies and regulations for the livestock products processing industry in the industrial era 4.0. The second session was delivered by Prof.Dr.Irma Isnafia Arief, S.Pt, M.Si related to Future Trends in the Supply Chain for Livestock Product Processing Industry. The third session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ir. Yandra Arkeman, M.Eng as an academic from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology of IPB who delivered material on the Utilization of Technology 4.0 (IoT, Block Chain and Artificial Intelligence) on the Supply Chain of Processed Livestock Products. The fourth session was delivered by Ir. Kunikawati Sumadji, ME as Government Relations Manager of PT Greenfields Indonesia, who delivered material on the implementation of 4.0 technology in the supply chain of the dairy processing industry in Indonesia. The fifth session was delivered by Haniwar Syarief as Executive Director of NAMPA-Indonesia regarding the material on the opportunities and challenges of implementing 4.0 technology in the supply chain of processed livestock (meat) industries in Indonesia.

After delivering the material from 5 speakers, the workshop was followed by a panel discussion which was guided by the moderator Dr.Tuti Suryati, S.Pt, M.Sc as the Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry Production and Technology, Faculty of Animal Science IPB. The workshop was attended by around 50 participants, most of whom were livestock products industry players, a number of government and academic bureaucrats. This activity is also supported by the media of Poultry Indonesia Magazine, and Agropustaka.
