Feed Logistics Management Training and Visit to Feed Factories (PT Charoen Pokphand, Tbk)

The feed logistics system (SLP) is technically related to how to get the right feed, at the right time, the right amount, the right conditions at affordable costs and provide added value to all parties involved. This condition certainly requires guaranteed availability in quantity and quality. FLPI collaborated with Indonesian Association of Nutritionits and Feed Scientist (AINI) to carry out training activities as a form of socialization and education related to food logistics.

The training was held for two days on 26-27 April 2019. The first day of the training was held at the Faculty of Animal Science IPB which was opened by Dr.Rudi Afnan, S.Pt, M.Sc.Agr as Deputy Dean Faculty of Animal Science IPB. This activity was attended by Prof.Luki Abdullah as Chairman of FLPI and Prof. Nahrowi as Chairman of AINI. In his remarks Prof. Nahrowi stated that the substance of feed logistics must also be seen in terms of livestock management so that the use of feed is more effective and efficient in accordance with the conditions of livestock and therefore management needs in food logistics.

The first training material was delivered by the Directorate of Feed, DG PKH was represented by Diner Saragih, SE, MSE who delivered material on the policy and regulation of Indonesia's feed ingredients supply chain. The second material was delivered by Istiadi as GM Feed Technology of PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia,Tbk regarding complete logistical management of feed from the input, process to output. The third material was delivered by Dr.Ir. Heri Ahmad Sukria, M.Agr, Lecturer at the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Animal Science, IPB concerning feed storage and warehousing systems.

The second day of training was a visit to the Feed Factory of PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, Tbk at Balaraja-Tangerang. This activity was warmly welcomed by the factory and the participants were full of enthusiasm  following the discussion until 14.00 noon. The training activities were attended by 20 participants from various backgrounds (academics, business, government and community), including from the Aceh Livestock Service Office, the Agriculture Service Office of Bangka-Belitung Province, business people from logistics companies, cattle breeders and poultry from Kuningan, Lampung, BULOG, Al Azhar University Kebayoran Baru, animal logistics master students of IPB and others.
The training activities went smoothly and successfully because of the support of various parties, participants and media partner (Food Review, Livestock Review.com, Infovet and Agro Pustaka).
